I was in a bad marriage and didn’t have support there I needed. I developed a fear of getting bad news from any dr I saw. And it seems that is happening a lot now as I get older. Can those living with health anxiety and those that have managed to get past it help me with advice as to how to conquer this. It is ruining my life.
@A MyLupusTeam Member My way of dealing with Lupus anxiety is by helping others and putting myself in their shoes. When I’m not constantly focusing on my own health issues, my stress and anxiety kind of slips away because I’m helping someone who is probably worse off than I am. Seeing their faces light up or just hearing a “thank you” is very powerful and very satisfying to say the least! Their reactions have helped me conquer all of my fears! It sounds weird right, but that’s what works for me! And I also agree with the comments that the other sweet ladies have made. Each of us have our own method of dealing with health anxiety because we’re all different. Just do what works for you! Eventually you’ll find what it is! Have a peaceful and lovely weekend 💜🌸💜🌸💜
I have found with my anxiety, the more I understand lupus, my anxiety decreases.
Staying busy helps me a lot. Also, I’ve got the attitude of the cliche “it is what it is”! I do what i can, on the advice of my doctors, and let the chips fall where they may. If I leave this earth today, I’ve had a good life! If I make it 20 more years, much the merrier. I do take Cymbalta daily and have Valium prescribed if needed. (usually only take 6-8 Valium’s per month).
Let go and live life!! 😎
I have always had anxiety, as a child I did not understand all those heavy feelings. I went into survival mode and pushed through, masked and faked my way thru life's ups and downs. However, when my health took a nose dive in 2012 and the drs were panicking trying to figure out how to save my life and what was wrong and sending me to specialist after specialist it was clear I needed to add meds to help me cope with all the things. Especially after I came home with 24 different meds aftee my furst lengthy lupus hospital stay . I had never been on anything but antibiotics and otc tylenol or ibuprofen before then and it made me nervous. I didn't even trust myself to take them, I relied on my husband to help monitor me. It has been 13 yrs since my life changed forever and I am happy to have anxiety and depression meds. I have let so much go and am not wound as tightly as I used to be.🥰
I do alot of meditation, deep breathing, and journaling, as well as gentle physical activities such as yoga, tai chi, and stretching. Progressive muscle relaxation, engaging in hobbies like reading or listening to music helps.
