Does lupus cause idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF)?

Based on the available information about lupus complications, there's no direct evidence linking lupus to IPF specifically. Lupus can affect many organs and systems in the body, including the lungs, but the lung complications typically associated with lupus are different from IPF.

Lupus can cause various lung issues such as:
- Pleuritis (inflammation of the lung lining)
- Pneumonitis (lung inflammation)
- Pulmonary hypertension
- Blood clots in the lungs

However, IPF is considered a separate condition and isn't listed among the typical complications of lupus. If you're experiencing breathing problems or have concerns about lung issues, it's important to discuss them with your healthcare provider. They can evaluate your specific symptoms and determine what's causing them, whether it's related to lupus or another condition requiring separate treatment.
