How can you manage taking multiple lupus medications?

It's completely understandable to feel overwhelmed by taking so many medications. Managing lupus often requires multiple drugs, and you're definitely not alone in this experience.

Several of your medications are commonly used for lupus treatment:

* Hydroxychloroquine - a cornerstone lupus medication
* Prednisone - a corticosteroid to reduce inflammation
* CellCept - an immunosuppressant
* Aspirin - often used to help prevent blood clots

Many MyLupusTeam members take similar combinations. One member shared, "I take Plaquenil, CellCept, prednisone, Coumadin, and many others."

It's really important not to stop taking any of these medications suddenly, especially hydroxychloroquine, prednisone, or CellCept. Stopping abruptly can lead to serious withdrawal symptoms, lupus flares, or other complications.

If you're struggling with side effects or the medication burden feels too heavy, talk with your rheumatologist. They can help you understand why each medication is necessary and may be able to adjust dosages or timing to make things more manageable.

Some medications like prednisone can interact with others (including NSAIDs, blood thinners, and diabetes medications), so keeping your healthcare team informed about everything you're taking is crucial.

Deneka, I am on all you are, and recently more! Im feeling sick to my stomach, who wouldn't on this much medication. Im also deep in my heart worried about me! I know things are progressing faster and faster. I've had Lupas for 40 years, some not so bad. Im 61 now, my body feels like a shell of my former self. More meds, infusions, brain fog, aches, pains, bone spurs, chronic stomach and bowel problems. Just please enjoy the hours or days you feel well. I have horses, when I feel good, I spend quiet time with them to ease my anxiety! Take care

I do share some of those Plaquenil, Methotrexate, Micardis, Crestor, Prozac, Vit-D2, Prednisone for flares, Gabapentin, Ofloxicin, Tobramycin, Prednisolone, Synthroid and maybe missing something. I keep a go bag with 2 weeks worth of meds and clothes etc in case there’s a miscellaneous storm that washes surrounding areas out. Kind of not know what may come around the corner. Hoping everyone is maintaining their level of comfort or close to it. Prayers for sure.
