Yes, I have SLE,Sjögrens disease, thyroid issues, celiacs disease, Hughes Syndrome, Factor V Leiden Mutation, Cold agglutinins Disease/Cryoglobulinemia and more. My bloodpressure was 60/30 and still crashing when they ran out to get help. My lowest pulse was 2x 25, 34 and 41, these were recorded by chance. Days ago a LoopRecorder was implanted beneath my skin, left side of my body. Data is being collected, after that I will either receive a Pacemaker or Defibrillator with or without meds. But I was told I need Benlysta or Saphnelo, better a cure, but my lupus and Sjögrens have to be controlled asap

Thank you for your reply. I ended up in CCU for two days because my blood pressure was so low (62/26). I was extremely dizzy and could not stay awake. No clear reason other than possible medications I was on. My rheumatologist had recently increased my Azathioprine to 150 mg a day as well as increased my nifedipine. My body did not react well. I’ve even had to stop my metoprolol. Medications I’ve been taking for years are playing havoc with my blood pressure. I now have a constant ringing in my ears. I can’t help but think it is from the meds as well. Lupus is definitely a daily fight.

Take care and I pray for your good health.

My SLE wreaks havoc with my BP. One it's high the next time it's normal. So it fluctuates like crazy. I once had my cardiologist NP lecture me in high blood pressure (I'm black and female) and diet. I just let her talk. When she stopped, I educated her on what SLE does to every body function, that I've always eaten healthy, not a lot of fried and fatty foods, no alcohol, drugs of any kind, etc., nothing that would actually give me real hypertension. It's my SLE. She got real quiet. I take my pressure every other day and as usual, it fluctuates. It is what it is

Can lupus cause extremely low blood pressure?

Lupus itself doesn't typically cause extremely low blood pressure directly. However, low blood pressure can occur in people with lupus due to several related factors.

Some medications used to treat lupus can lower blood pressure, including:
* Diuretics (water pills) used for fluid retention from corticosteroids
* Blood pressure medications for hypertension or lupus nephritis
* Rituximab (Rituxan) for lupus symptoms
* Certain antidepressants

Additionally, some conditions that can coexist with lupus may contribute to low blood pressure, such as thyroid disease, Addison's disease, or occasionally diabetes.

Low blood pressure becomes concerning when it causes symptoms like dizziness, fainting, light-headedness, nausea, blurry vision, confusion, or unusual fatigue. One MyLupusTeam member shared their experience: "I was light-headed and dizzy with low blood pressure. I went to the ER and came back with a diagnosis of hyponatremia (low sodium levels)."

If you're experiencing symptoms of extremely low blood pressure, it's important to talk with your doctor. They can help determine whether medication adjustments or other treatments are needed.
