Yes, bruising is quite common for people with lupus. Your rheumatologist is right that Plavix (a blood thinner) can definitely contribute to easier bruising. Many lupus medications can cause this, including:

* Prednisone and other corticosteroids
* Blood thinners like warfarin or aspirin
* Hydroxychloroquine

A MyLupusTeam member shared: "Between warfarin, hydroxychloroquine, and prednisone, bruising is just one of those 'learn to live with it' things for me."

Some people with lupus also bruise more easily due to related conditions like immune thrombocytopenia (ITP) or anemia, which affect blood cells and clotting.

If you notice bruising that seems excessive, appears without any injury, or concerns you, it's worth documenting it with photos and checking in with your doctor to make sure everything is okay. But in general, yes, bruising is a common experience for many people managing lupus and its treatments.

That's good to know @A MyLupusTeam Member! 🤔 I have Hughes Syndrome and I've been taking ASS since 2006 perhaps? I really can't remember when I had to start taking it. I've been disoriented, confused and forgetful since my early teens, crazy, now that I think about it

Im on blood thinner also since ive had two blood clots & 6 strokes, im only allowed to take warfarin, they have trired but they have all come back with the same responce that because i have antiphospholipid syndrom i cant take anything but warfarin because the other blood thinners, will cause a person with antiphospholipid syndrom to have a stroke , i wish i coild take something else so i wouldn't have to get my blood INR checked all the time

I am on both Plavix after cardiac cath and stent placement. I am also on eliquis. With 2 blood thinners I have to be very careful of bruising.
