Why does your skin hurt to touch with lupus?

Skin sensitivity and pain with lupus can happen for several reasons. When lupus is flaring, your skin may become especially sensitive and develop rashes accompanied by burning or itchy sensations. This heightened sensitivity can make even light touch uncomfortable.

Lupus causes skin inflammation, which is why your skin might hurt when touched. This can occur with different types of lupus skin involvement, including cutaneous lupus and systemic lupus erythematosus.

What triggers this sensitivity:

* Stress
* Illness or exhaustion
* UV light exposure
* Injury
* Lupus flare-ups

Some medications used to treat lupus can also increase skin sensitivity. It's important to discuss any new or worsening skin symptoms with your doctor to ensure you're receiving appropriate treatment for potential flare-ups. About easy bruising:

Easy bruising can be a concern with lupus. Since you're experiencing both painful skin sensitivity and easy bruising, it's worth mentioning these symptoms to your doctor. They may want to run blood tests to check for other possible causes and ensure your lupus treatment is managing your symptoms effectively.

Keep track of when the skin pain and bruising occur, as this information can help your healthcare team adjust your treatment plan if needed.
