Do you experience bacterial vaginosis (BV) or use vaginal irrigation at times?

Bacterial vaginosis is a condition that can occur when there's an imbalance in the vaginal microbiome. People with lupus may be more susceptible to vaginal infections, including BV, due to immune system changes.

If you're experiencing symptoms like unusual discharge, odor, or discomfort, it's important to see your healthcare provider. They can diagnose BV and prescribe antibiotics if needed.

Regarding vaginal irrigation or douching, most doctors don't recommend it. Douching can actually disrupt the natural balance of bacteria in the vagina and may increase the risk of infections like BV. The vagina is self-cleaning, and using water or other solutions to rinse it out can do more harm than good.

If you're dealing with vaginal symptoms, talk to your doctor about safe treatment options that won't interfere with your lupus medications or make infections more likely.

My was due to the amount of antibiotics I was taking. I was hospitalized bc I kept having bacteria infections. So I talk to my doctor about it.
And they discontinued the antibiotics bc it causes yeast infections. So we used monistat 7 to clear the yeast infection. Now I use Black Girl Vitamins. PCOS Relief.
Note: every supplement that I take has to be cleared by my Cardio Team.
And I use the sunscreen also.
