I take a drug called fetizma. It’s newer from what I understand. Your doctor should know which drugs you can and cannot take with your lupus meds. Best of luck

Which antidepressant is safe to take with Plaquenil (hydroxychloroquine)?

Several types of antidepressants can be taken with Plaquenil, but it's important to understand potential interactions. Common antidepressant types include:

* SSRIs (Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors) - such as Celexa, Lexapro, Prozac, Paxil, and Zoloft
* SNRIs (Serotonin and Norepinephrine Reuptake Inhibitors) - such as Effexor
* Bupropion - brand names include Wellbutrin SR and Wellbutrin XL

When certain antidepressants are taken with hydroxychloroquine, they may increase how much hydroxychloroquine stays in your blood. This could make the drug have a stronger effect or raise the risk of side effects.

Additionally, hydroxychloroquine may increase the risk of abnormal heart rhythm (QT prolongation), which is something to monitor when combining it with antidepressants.

Some antidepressants can also worsen lupus symptoms like dry eyes or dry mouth, which is especially important if you have Sjögren's disease alongside lupus.

Your rheumatologist and prescribing doctor should work together to choose the safest antidepressant for your specific situation. Never stop taking hydroxychloroquine or change medications without talking to your doctor first.
