This morning I felt fine , I went out to a couple stores . I notice I had a headache on my way back to the also .also my head felt funny. I was sneezing and I had chills not to mention I felt hot all over. .but I did notice some swelling when I got up this morning. I took a Tylenol it helped a little but no so much. My mama thinks I could be flaring from the sun today but I dont know
Even limited sun exposure can cause all sorts of chaos. My skin also burns under fluorescent lights, those cork screw lights and computer monitors. If Flu like symptoms are common with lupus regardless of sun exposure. Try to stay fully covered when you go out or change your routine to go out at night. My old neighbours used to call me a vampire because I did all my gardening and yard work at night. You are going to find that everyone has an opinion about what you should or should not do. You need to do what works for you and set firm boundaries with friends and family. No disrespect to mom but this disease can be very isolating and I have found through the years there are a lot of people who subtly or not so subtly blame you for your symptoms ie if you just ate healthier, if you exercised more, took the right supplements, tried acupuncture etc etc etc you wouldn’t have these problems or even this disease at all. It’s a big learning curve to find what works for you and this disease changes from year to year so you are going to have to constantly be learning. Take care of yourself.
We're now into spring allergy symptoms, which, along with sun exposure, can trigger our symptoms. Please be careful to use UV protection, BG, and you may want to take something for allergies (such as Allegra) if you continue to sneeze, have congestion, etc. I hope you feel better soon. The allergies are making me achier recently, too.
Bought it today!
I didn't know about the higher recommendation for SPF. I will make sure to get the higher one! Thank you!
FYI, using an SPF of at least 70 is what's currently recommended. Just a few years ago, it was at least 50, but more aggressive protection is suggested. Avoiding being out between 10 am--4 pm (peak UV hours) also helps, and UV exposure is greater when it's not winter. We can check our local UV online, just like we check the local weather, and adjust when we go out.
Maybe we should all be vampires, as you mention, @A MyLupusTeam Member!😂 Better safe than sorry...
