Yes, both lupus itself and some medications used to treat it can cause widespread tooth pain and sensitivity. It's actually more common than many people realize!

Here are some lupus-related reasons all your teeth might hurt:

- Periodontal (gum) disease — lupus increases the risk of this, which can cause gum recession and sensitivity across multiple teeth
- Dry mouth — lupus can reduce saliva production, which raises acid levels in the mouth and damages teeth broadly
- TMJ disorders — jaw joint inflammation is common in lupus and can cause widespread tooth and jaw pain
- Teeth grinding or clenching — this wears down enamel on all teeth over time Some medications can also contribute:

- Methotrexate — can cause mouth sores and increase susceptibility to oral thrush, both of which can cause widespread tooth pain
- Antidepressants (SSRIs) — can cause teeth grinding, which damages enamel across all teeth
- Corticosteroids — can contribute to muscle weakness affecting the jaw

A MyLupusTeam member shared: *"I have these incidences with upper and bottom jaw teeth that just hurt sometimes — even sensitive to touch."*

It's worth mentioning all your symptoms to both your rheumatologist and dentist together, so they can coordinate the best plan for you.

Take a look at your meds to see if any of the side effects are dry mouth. I had dry mouth as a side effect to the meds i was taking. Dry mouth will make every tooth hurt and its painful. i had TMj before I was diagnosised with lupus. I wear a bite guard everynite for that. you may need to see your dentist to help you out with these things. I am praying for you.
