I am a 5th grade teacher and the expectatons are sometimes unbelievable. When I am having a flare, I find myself barely hanging on. Ashortly after I get home, I am passed out leaving little time for my 12 year old daughter. How do you manage this at work?

Yes I'm in that space now. Teach high school 28 years and counting. Right now my legs are swollen my ankles and this constant cough. I had lupus for 8 years and these times are the worse. I stay focus on positives things I can still due at 61 love teaching so I will drag in their because once I leave or retire I know I will not get out of bed or leave the house. I try and focus on goals I want. Live tiny. Buy a tiny house so getting to things are easier. When the flare is on I give give it to God and get plenty of rest to tackle another day with a smile. Make sure you enjoy all the good days with your daughter she knows you are sick and she loves the strength you have to get up and gooooo

all I ever did was push through it there would be multiple times where I had to force a smile on my face and crawl out of bed and go to work. I did that for the last 10 years now I can no longer work. Take the time you need your work doesn't care about you just their bottom line. If you have to miss some days do, don't be a fool like I was in the end its only you and your health you need to be concerned about. I learnt that the hardway

I taught for a number of years with terrible flare ups the thing is...you can't help being sick all you can really do is try not to let it force you into a place of feeling guilty. The truth is you have to take care of yourself first so that you can be more capable of spending time with your daughter its tough I know but its not your fault for being sick... Take it one step at a time. I hope this helps to a degree? Don't beat yourself up over situations that are out of your control this said in love and true understanding.

Some days can be hard for me as well. I tend to feel my legs and arms burning like crazy. Lately I have been drinking a ginger and turmeric tea. That seems to help a bit. I found it at Trader Joes. Also my friend made me some lavender body butter. Praying you feel better soon. Also I tend to rub my legs at my desk.
