Several medications have been linked to drug-induced lupus (DIL). While not everyone who takes these drugs will develop lupus, it's worth knowing the risks. Here are the most commonly associated ones:

- Procainamide (Pronestyl) β€” treats irregular heartbeat; carries up to a 30% risk of causing lupus
- Hydralazine (Apresoline) β€” treats high blood pressure; carries a 5–10% risk
- Quinidine (Cardioquin) β€” also treats irregular heartbeat
- Isoniazid (Nydrazid) β€” an antibiotic used for tuberculosis
- Minocycline (Minocin) β€” an antibiotic used for acne and bacterial infections; most common in young females
- TNF inhibitors such as Adalimumab (Humira), Etanercept (Enbrel), and Infliximab (Remicade) β€” used for autoimmune conditions Less commonly, these medications have also been linked to lupus-like symptoms:

- Anti-seizure medications
- Captopril (Capoten)
- Chlorpromazine (Thorazine)
- Methyldopa (Aldomet)
- Sulfasalazine (Azulfidine)

The good news is that DIL symptoms are generally milder than typical lupus and usually go away after stopping the medication. Always talk to your doctor before making any changes to your medications.
