Yesterday my Rheumatologist nurse gave me a steroid injection and I feel so terrible today 😞 I can't tell if it's the ongoing lupus activity, other medication, the steroid or what... I'm just honoring my body and resting and hydrating... I don't even want to eat πŸ˜•

Feeling rough after a Kenalog (triamcinolone) injection is actually more common than you might think, and it's completely understandable to feel confused about what's causing it. Resting and hydrating is genuinely one of the best things to do right now β€” your body is doing a lot of work. Kenalog is a topical and injectable corticosteroid, and like other steroids used in lupus treatment, it can cause short-term side effects, especially in the first day or two. Some things you might be feeling could include:

- Fatigue or weakness
- Mood changes
- Appetite changes
- General "off" feeling

These short-term effects often ease up as your body adjusts. Since you're also dealing with ongoing lupus activity and other medications, it can genuinely be hard to pinpoint the exact cause β€” even doctors find this tricky sometimes.

If symptoms feel severe, worsen, or don't improve in a day or two, it's worth reaching out to your rheumatologist's office to let them know what you're experiencing. They can help sort out what's going on and give you personalized guidance. πŸ’›

Thank you both for saying that! I was like what's happening to my body. Today I feel joint pain in my hips, I'm going to stretch them and rest more.

Give the injection a day or so to work. Over the years have had many such injections that helped my skin flares and joint pain a lot. You are doing exactly what you should be doing!

A close friend of mine gets Kenalog occasionally for her lupus joint flares, Empress, and she finds it very helpful. I suspect you're just having a bad day. Give it another couple of days for it to work fully, and I hope you soon feel better!πŸ’œ
