Numb fingertips are a really common complaint with lupus, and there are a few likely reasons this could be happening.

Here are the most common causes to be aware of:

- Peripheral neuropathy – Lupus-related inflammation can damage the nerves that send signals to your hands and fingers, causing numbness or tingling
- Raynaud's phenomenon – A lupus-linked condition where blood vessels constrict in response to cold or stress, temporarily cutting off circulation to the fingers
- Carpal tunnel syndrome – Widespread lupus inflammation can put pressure on the median nerve in your wrist, causing numbness in the fingers It's really important to track when the numbness happens and share that with your rheumatologist. They may recommend nerve tests or adjustments to your treatment plan.

Seek emergency care right away if numbness comes with weakness, slurred speech, vision changes, trouble walking, or confusion — these can signal something more serious.

Raynauds can cause color changes in my fingers, but lately I haven't dealt with much Raynauds, but still the finger feels tingly, my wrist and forearm feel tight, and my arm as a whole feels weak, with dull pain in my mid shoulder area. It almost feels like a tight band around my mid humerus (down from my shoulder).

I actually had carpal tunnel surgery hoping some of the numbness and pain would subside in my arms. The EMG doctor said I had more inflammation than carpal tunnel could explain. He was right. My muscles/tissues in my arms are so inflamed, nerves are definitely being pinched. Lupus and Myocitis definitely explain these issues. I can't make a fist anymore.
