It’s like unbelievable. I’m just because I don’t work anymore the nerve of some people to say well you’re home all day. What does that supposed to mean? ??

Members rallied around the question of how to handle people who dismiss lupus symptoms, especially when being home is mistaken for being available or lazy, sharing powerful stories of being called dramatic, lazy, or even told by a doctor that lupus was made up. Several members offered the hard-earned wisdom that protecting your peace matters most, whether by setting firm boundaries, limiting energy spent on those who won't show empathy, or sharing resources like the Spoon Theory with those who genuinely want to understand. A recurring theme was that those who truly care will make the effort, and your energy is too precious to spend convincing those who won't.

I completely understand the frustration. Take a deep breath....namaste. Give yourself a hug. Although we would like to force them to see it we are to extend grace to them. Don't burden yourself with that negativity. Thrive as you survive this cruel mystery of a disease. You have no idea what battles they may be enduring and not sharing. God bless you. Much love. Be a blessing today.

Lenore, during my 40 years with this disease, I have learned not to care what anyone thinks. I understand that it's frustrating, but those who genuinely care will make the effort to understand it. The others aren't worth thinking about!

We must give ourselves the compassion, understanding, and love we need to heal.💜

Yes, I have been there. I can clearly recall when someone volunteered me to do something because I didn't work. I didn't bother to address the individual. Instead, I let the person we were speaking to know 'if' I was available. It takes a lot of patience and grace to keep our cool in situations like this. It's not worth getting ourselves upset or stressed over. That only makes us sick. Consider following the advice of @A MyLupusTeam Member and @A MyLupusTeam Member. They each said it beautifully.

I get the frustration, I've been unable to work for quite a few years. I get comments all the time still that I'm home what more do I want. Well home doesn't fix this disease and little do they know before I got disability I lost everything and was sleeping in my car at Walmart. I had no insurance but had an amazing Dr who treated me anyway and that saved my life. People need to research and see that this disease is horrible and takes lives. We're not lazy or dramatic it's real pain and hundreds of other issues that come along with it

I get it completely people have called me lazy drama queen, and all kinds of names! I even had a few with the gall to compare me to a 25 yo who has it, ok I am 53 and lived with chronic pain for 16 years... Go suck a toad and just leave me alone...
