Could lupus or its treatments be causing those nightmares? Yes, it's very possible — and you're definitely not alone in this.

A few lupus-related factors can contribute to disturbing dreams and disrupted sleep:

- Hydroxychloroquine (Plaquenil) — this common lupus medication has been linked to nightmares and vivid dreams
- Antidepressants — people with lupus have a higher risk of depression, and medications used to treat it can affect dreaming
- Corticosteroids like prednisone — can cause hyperactivity and sleep disturbances
- Blood pressure medications (ACE inhibitors) — also linked to vivid dreams Some lifestyle adjustments that may help reduce nightmares include:

- Creating a calming bedtime routine (reading, a warm bath, or meditation)
- Going to sleep at the same time each night
- Avoiding scary or stressful content before bed
- Keeping your bedroom dark, quiet, and comfortable
- Limiting alcohol and caffeine
- Light stretching before bed

It's really important to bring this up with your doctor, especially since it's disrupting your sleep and affecting your household. They can review your medications and help figure out the best path forward. Poor sleep can also trigger lupus flares, so getting this sorted matters more than it might seem! 💙

It could be a side effect of one of your meds. I know for me, sleep med prescribed for me many moons ago, caused me to have such vivid awful dreams that I told the dr at the time, never again. Worth mentioning to your dr for sure.

I just think it's crazy the things that these diseases cause I don't know if it has to do with the medication or not because I've been doing this since I was young and I'm 73 now I had my first one at 15 and they haven't stopped.

wow, this is different. Never heard of anything like this before but I will definitely see someone about it or talk to someone about it. Maybe they can give me some insight of what’s doing it and what can you do to stop it? Best of luck 🙏🏾💜
