I have had both wrists operated on due to carpool tunnel syndrome, I still get slight symptoms in my left wrist but otherwise they are fine. I’m so glad I was able to get them both sorted.
I wasn’t aware of a link to my lupus but it doesn’t surprise as it seems every condition is down to lupus

Good afternoon! It sounds like the question might be whether others with lupus have experienced carpal tunnel syndrome — and the answer is yes, quite a few have!

Good afternoon! It sounds like the question might be whether others with lupus have experienced carpal tunnel syndrome — and the answer is yes, quite a few have!

Carpal tunnel syndrome is actually more common in people with lupus. Lupus-related inflammation can contribute to it, and some MyLupusTeam members have shared their own experiences dealing with it. One MyLupusTeam member shared that their carpal tunnel had gotten bad enough to keep them awake at night due to pain, and they eventually had surgery on their hand.

It's worth knowing that research suggests carpal tunnel syndrome may be more likely to become severe enough to require surgery in people with autoimmune conditions like lupus. So keeping an eye on symptoms is really important.

Some things to discuss with your doctor or rheumatologist include:

- How to manage inflammation, since controlling lupus-related inflammation may help ease carpal tunnel symptoms
- Treatment options, which can range from wrist splints and physical therapy to surgery if needed
- Monitoring symptoms so things don't progress without being addressed

Don't hesitate to bring this up at your next appointment — the earlier it's managed, the better! 💪
