Waking up with unexplained spots on one arm can definitely be puzzling, especially when there's no obvious cause! A few MyLupusTeam members have shared similar experiences, describing spots that feel bruised and sore without any known reason.

There are a few possible explanations worth considering:

- Lupus-related skin lesions — Between 70–80% of people with lupus develop areas of damaged or irritated skin at some point
- Medication side effects — Some lupus medications like corticosteroids can make blood vessels more fragile, leading to unexplained bruising or spots
- Hives (urticaria) — Around 10% of people with lupus develop raised, itchy patches of skin
- Skin infections — Things like folliculitis can cause inflamed bumps to appear on the arm Since the spots appeared without explanation and are only on one arm, it's worth mentioning them to a rheumatologist or dermatologist. They can examine the spots, rule out cutaneous lupus, and recommend the right treatment if needed. Any new or changing skin symptoms are always worth getting checked out!

I had a horrible resident (fellow) who took over my treatment after a wonderful doctor. She screamed at my husband and me because she insinuated my lupus symptoms were really an allergy to my pets. That was rediculous, and we told her so. She then screamed at us, saying she was the doctor. That nut actually called the group I just saw and told them all my treatment history is bogus. They said they spoke with her and didn't want to offer a 2nd opinion. The allery panel came up negative. I'm not allergic to my pets. My lupus labs just are positive, negative, positive, etc. That doesn't mean nothing is there. I'm seeing a local dermatologist tomorrow to biopsy my spots. Hopefully, more information will help treat and prevent them. Or, it may be a waste of time. I got to give it a try regardless. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Since i woke with these spots shortly after i came down with a migraine im now on day 4 plus
All my joints hurt & both arms hurt im
Wondering if its all related, although the resident
i sit with at the table keeps accusing me of doing something wrong tonight i told her, its probably the weather she says why did u go out in it i said i didn't we had cold non stop rain for about 4 days now its high 70’s to mid 80’s. Im fed up im not even allowed to speak unless i ask her permission. I dont know what to do ,
My voice is low already & luous has already attacked my vocal cords & theres nothing we can do im told by my Drs. I should be glad im still able to talk weather im heard or not because one day i wont be able to, speak i want that day to come now so i dont have to get screamed at if i accidentally talk.or answer someones question This resident only does it to me.
God BlessYou have a good night

Get your Dr to check it out. I get a weird rash on one butt cheek when I have a flare. They never seem to know what it is, but it’s a warning to rest up more and eat lots of high vitamin foods.
