I feel like some symptoms are getting worse even though my labs come back good.

That's such a frustrating experience — feeling worse while your labs look fine. It's more common than you might think, and your feelings are completely valid.

Lupus is unpredictable by nature. Symptoms can flare up even when you're doing everything right, and lab results don't always capture the full picture of how you're feeling day to day. Over time, lupus can cause damage through ongoing inflammation, which is why staying on top of management matters so much. Some long-term concerns include:

- Heart issues
- Kidney damage
- Blood clots
- Lung inflammation
- Nerve problems

The good news is that working closely with your rheumatologist to control inflammation early can help reduce the risk of lasting damage. As one MyLupusTeam member put it, the tricky part is not always knowing whether a new symptom is a flare or something else entirely.

It's really important to let your doctor know about any new or worsening symptoms, even when labs look normal. Symptoms and lab results together give a fuller picture, and your doctor may want to explore other types of testing or adjust your treatment plan.

I don't know sometimes it feels like I was hit by a truck, cause everything is hurting. I try not to focus on it anymore and just hand it over to God. I haven't taken any medicine in a couple of years. The medicine made it worse.
