I wonder if that is a part of your severe allergy to sumac. My face swelled from an allergy to an antibiotic. Please check the side effects of the meds you were given yesterday and contact your doctor ASAP or go to the ER.

I'm so sorry to hear about this. I hope you go to the doctor or ER I know you don't want to and I don't blame you but bottom line is you should go. I hope things start looking up for you and you start feeling a lot better you are in my prayers big hugs

That sounds really distressing, and it's completely understandable to be alarmed. Severe facial swelling and pain should be evaluated by a doctor or emergency care right away — please don't wait on this one. With lupus, facial swelling can sometimes be linked to a few things worth knowing about:

- Lupus flare — widespread inflammation can cause swelling and pain across the face
- Vasculitis — inflamed blood vessels can cause lumpy, painful skin reactions
- Mouth or skin sores — lupus can cause swelling that spreads from sores inside the mouth to the lips and surrounding areas
- Medication reactions — some lupus medications can cause facial swelling as a side effect

None of these should be self-managed when symptoms are severe. Please seek medical attention immediately so the cause can be identified and treated quickly. Your care team needs to know about this right away.
