I would like to know if anyone takes blood thinners, and how you feel taking them ?
So, we’ve been wanting another baby for few years now, and we really wanted to try but I ended up being diagnosed with lupus few days ago. I am kind of lost. Has anyone become pregnant while having lupus? How did it turn out? I’m very scared and don’t know what to do. 😥
I have lupus and have had two healthy children. Pregnancy is the best time for me, my lupus mostly goes into remission while I'm pregnant. The births have been normal and healthy babies. However… read more
I have APS/LUPUS and found out that I also suffer with TMJ. I am in need of oral surgery including an extraction. My dentist wants me off ELIQUIS for a couple of days prior to. My hematologist gave me a box of lovenox and told me to stop my eliquis and take the lovenox 4 days before the procedure. I have NEVER TAKEN lovenox and wanted to know has anyone had to stop one blood thinner and temporarily take another ; so that you can have a medical procedure done?
Yes it is a common practice. They want to make sure you don't bleed out.
@A MyLupusTeam Member, all are natural supplements, including CN-SP, except for TP+SCs, which are your own stem cells
For prescription meds I am on Diltalizem for blood pressure, insulin for T1D, and… read more
I have APS and was hospitalized 2yrs ago with multiple blood clots (a PE, ONE IN MY JUGULAR AND LEFT LEG). I have been having difficulty swallowing and having a feeling of food not going down, which makes me have these bouts of severe coughing. So my Gastro doc wants me to have an endoscopy. But he wants me off blood thinner for 4/5 days prior. My hematologist says I can't be off my blood thinner that long. My hematologist then gave me a box of LOVENOX to take 3 days prior stopping the day… read more
To MyCrazyLife - I'm laughing because that 1-2-3-GO is what I do with injectables. A nurse taught me. I actually cannot push the needle in without the 123GO mantra. I grab the belly fat, 123GO, push… read more
@Coumadin and Colonoscopy -
In a few days I am scheduled to have a colonoscopy/EGD to look for the reason I am severely anemic. I am also on @Coumadin since I have Antiphospholipid Syndrome in addition to Lupus. The directions for the colonoscopy prep say to stop my @Coumadin 4 days before the procedure but I'm curious if I need to be put on Lovonox in the meantime. My PCP nurse says that I'll be taken off everything and then bridged back to @Coumadin with @Lovenox after the procedure but I… read more
Every time I have surgeries, I'm always taken off of it for many days. They will hook you up in the recovery. You'll be fine.
stopped taking the blood thinners prior to the blood work or after; And if so how long did you stop the meds? My concern is that with APS, it is IMPERATIVE to take BLOOD THINNERS,. If any WARRIORS can share their experience or give me some advice it will be greatly appreciated. Thanks
the drug BUPROPION caused me to grind my teeth badly and ended up having TMJ. And TMJ is one of the worse pains. I now take Ativan and Lunesta at night. I feel so much better.
Anyone under treatment for lupus induced anticoagulation issues? I’m curious to find out what may be effective for others.
I do ginger for blood thinner,but please don't try anything without your doctor's approval.
NO, normally just by examining a blood smear under the microscope, it's easy to determine if it's clumped platelets or truly low numbers of them. Please request this if not yet done.
I am currently needing to decide whether or not to go back on Lovenox. Ideally I would but the issue is I have had several internal bleeds from the Lovenox. So I have to decide to risk clots or do I take the med and risk a major bleed? Stressful.
