Currently I am being treated for Active SLE so I am taking Plaquenil, Mycophenolate and Prednisone. Other symptoms and side effects are either gone or reduced, but hair loss is still there. Every comment and suggestion is appreciated. Thank you! :)
I also use a product called Black Jamaican Castor Oil where I have lost hair and use only natural oils in my hair (stimulate growth and encourage growth) like Vitamin E and I massage this in my scalp once or twice a day. My hair appears thicker and is filling in the bald spots.
Oh, one other thing. I also use Biotin 5000 mg and use natural shampoo and conditioners. I no longer use chemicals in my hair or hairsprays. There are natural hair websites that you may find useful. There are recipes for homemade shampoo, conditioners and deep conditioners. One is use 1/4 honey and 1/4 olive oil to deep condtion my hair (15-30). There are sites like NaturallyCurly.com that have some of the recipes I mentioned. Don't be let the name discourage you. Let me know your progress.
Best Wishes.
Definitely folic acid! I was on that when I was on methotrexate and it seemed to really help!
Been hearing good things about the supplement Biotin.
I use It Works Hair Skin and Nail supplements and they are amazing! I am a stylist and I had tried everything for my hair loss but this is the only thing that helps me!
