I'm not entirely convinced that Lupus is the right diagnosis. I have normal -or close to normal- labs. I understand that this can happen ... I have a lot of the symptoms of lupus. Rash, light sensitivity, headaches, swollen and painful joints, cognitive difficulties, nerve issues in arms, Raynaud's syndrome, etc. My question is this ... Can you somehow materialize these symptoms? I don't understand how I can have so many of these symptoms, yet have nothing show up in my labs
Is there a way… read more

What everybody is saying is very good advice! Unfortunately Lupus like many other autoimmune diseases have symptoms that are common for many possible reasons. For example, fatigue can be associated with many illnesses or even vitamin deficiency. There isn't a test that says yes this lupus or no it's not. I have felt for years that I was "dreamy up" these symptoms. Drs always explained away my symptoms so I started feeling like I was a hypochondriac. My advice is to listen to your body. Educate yourself and then advocate for yourself. Make them look until they find a cause even if it is stress. Stress also causes Lupus symptoms to flare. Some medicines can give u Raynauds. I believe it is beta blockers that can cause it. Hang in there!

It took 8 years for me to be diagnosed with Lupus. My labs came back for years showing inflammation in my blood. As Lupus progressed there were more symptoms. example: The Butterfly rash.. I have Lupus, Graves Disease and Fibro also.. They all have some of the same symptoms and did not show up on labs. For me, I do not just go by what the doctors say I also educate myself about the diseases that I have. I read everything that I come across to this day. Doctors do not always tell you everything and one does not always know what questions to ask.

I in the same situation . One doc says I have mild Lupus . I have the joint , sjogens , skin rash , tingling in hands , but my new doc says I don't have it ... But says something is going on cause my blood work is abnormal . Im confused, stressed, annoyed , but I decided to just live life while I can enjoy it. Can't do any more test for the doc to say yes and no to me .

When I was first diagnosed, I had concurrent false positive tests, and I went to see an immunologist who asked me one question...have you ever had a blood transfusion?
To which I answered yes, she said this was the reason for MY false positive, or low positive tests. This is how I contracted SLE, through my transfusion.
