Being newly diagnosed I'm in need of a rheumatologist in Richmond VA that knows about Lupus. I currently see one but not sure if she is the right one.

Have you tried checking with local Lupus organizations? They may have some referrals. Or if you go to a support group you can ask other lupus patients which rheumatologist they use and they will give you some candid advice. Personally, I made sure that my rheumatologist was affiliated with a teaching hospital so that they are up to date on new treatments, etc. Also, I see several specialist and that makes communication a lot easier. They all have access to my records.
