I wasn't able to take either of those, however when I took the prednisone, it did significantly cause me to gain weight big time. Might want to ask your doctor or read up on the side effects. I always call my pharmacist because they know more than anyone about medications. I hope this helps

I lost 20 lbs so far from prednisone and prednisone is the only med I am on for SLE.

@A MyLupusTeam Member, How did they diagnose you with that? When I was 10 years old i had a tumor on the left lobe of my thyroid and they removed the tumor and the left lobe. I've been checked every year -sometimes twice- and have never had to take meds. i know incredible, but true!

I did until, I started Hashimoto's thyroiditis, and where cant give me thyroid meds, have been gaining, even though eating has not changed

In the beginning I was loosing weight but after awhile I began to gain weight and the prednisone caused my face to become round and enlarged
