Has anyone been able to be declared disabled from havingLupus? I have been struggling at work with memory problems as well as only sleeping 2 hours a night. I work in a past faced financial enviroment and have been there for 23 years minus the time I was on dialysis. I'm really falling behind.

Yep I receive SSDI for about 2 years now I took all paper work ,doctors names, numbers. CD's of MRI and CT SCANS ,I left nothing to chance..they denied me the first time..so this time I strapped up with evidence so they wouldn't have to search and wait for verification..only thing in Louisiana u have to be disabled for 2 years before u can get medicare or prescription help...June of this year mine starts!!! Thank U Lord!!

I received disability from lupus only because I was a teacher and the students made me very ill. It to 1 appeal and almost 2 years but I did get approved.

Yep ,I'm married 2 I wasn't when my check started 2years ago ...but got married a year after my check started SSI office told me when ur disabled its ur disability and your spouses income does not combine with yours...now getting a social security check ur spouses income counts ,but social security disability is @A MyLupusTeam Member and @A MyLupusTeam Member.. And after 2 years your eligible for Medicare at no matter ur age and also can apply to start receiving social security and disability income monthly.the 2year wait is to make sure ur disabled and I quote with no possibilities of recovery...

I too am on disability but, I believe it was approved for mental reasons. When the judge asked me a simple question and I broke down in tears cause I couldn't answer the question he gave me a tissue and told me never mind. LOL
Get an attorney from the get go. Realize it will be a long journey. Don't miss any appointments. And when you finally do see the judge, be brutally honest when he/she asks any questions concerning any legal trouble or any information concerning drugs etc... these judges already know your history good and bad. If you lie about the bad they will wonder what else you are lying about. Good luck
