I find that during, or sometimes just before, a flare, my scalp becomes very sensitive. It's also itchy (like a constant deep itch) and flaky. Does this happen to anyone else?!
It seems no amount of normal treatment helps completely. The only thing that has really ever kept it clear is a steroid shampoo.
I know exactly what you mean. I am in a flare and also getting what I'd describe as cradle cap and flakes. Trying to get to the dermatologist but too sick. Ugh.
Me too! When I'm in a flare, my scalp feels like I have bugs crawling all over it. My Dermatologist has me using Nizoral Shampoo. It is expensive $10 for a 6 ounce bottle, but it doesn't take much and it works for me. Hope this helps.
Wow mine to I didn't know what caused it but it is right before I flare or as I start
I've used plaquenil (200mg)2 a day since 1996 until 2011. I felt so good. Very rare flare ups. I had to be taken off of it because it was effecting my eyesight. I am on 5mg prednisone now. I have hotspots (rashes, sores) on my scalp, face, inner ears. The itch is unbearable. It's on and off in certain areas of the scalp, ears and face. I continuously scratch. Unbearable sometimes. Scalp becomes red/flaky as well. I use prescribed topical ointments(Fluocinonide liquid/Lidex Gel, Cordran lotion or fresh aloe. I find the Fluocinonide liquid/gels to sting the scalp. The Cordran felt better on the scalp. There is Corticosteroid shampoo (Clobex) I hope this helps. The dermatologist and Rheumy Dr wants to keep me on a low dosage of prednisone. Have a fabulous day🌍
Clobex Shampoo, 0.05%, is a super-high potent topical corticosteroid formulation indicated for the treatment of moderate to severe forms of scalp psoriasis
Me too. Did not realize this was a factor until you posted. My scalp was itching for the past two weeks. Than broke out on face, now have a UTI, hip an knee pains and a little depression. Glad will be seeing my Rhumy on Fri.
Put in an offer on a New Home yesterday and the thought of moving is getting overwhelming, but it will be exciting to have a home of our own again.
