I have been having severe chest pains when I lay flat down n when I'm walking but my doctors never find anything and it makes me mad cause I feel like they think I'm lying cause at the hospital they always say it's my chest wall which is bs.
I have chest pains also. But mine became something else "Brachial Neuritis". Anyway, after taking many tests I was finally referred to a Neurologist. You hang in there, and I'll be praying for you!! And no you are not crazy. But, next time you see your Rhumy, make sure to mention it!!
Next time ask them to do a blood test for pleurisy. I had chest pains and it shot down my left arm. I was sure I was having a heart attack but it turned out to be pleurisy. They treated me and I was discharged the next evening.
My rheumy knew exactly what we were dealing with. My first appointment with her was me telling her my chest hurt. When she did labs and told me I had lupus I asked her then could lupus cause my chest to hurt. She answered yes that it's a classic symptom. My brother has c-ANCA Vasculitis (auto-immune disease) and he delt with er visits before his diagnosis. My rheumy (and his) said that's a classic symptom for him as well. I'm so thankful we have her. We have both suffered for over 10 years before we found her.
I had severe chest pain and trouble breathing. I was referred to a pulmonologist and learned I have Pleural Effusion (fluid around the lungs). They said it was because of the inflammation from the lupus and they put me on Prednisone. I also seem to have developed asthma which they have me on medication for and now I am able to lay down and my chest doesn't hurt as bad
I too have chest pains. They were really bad before I got to the Rheumatologist. Once she placed me on the immuno-suppressant, they have pretty much stopped. I still have episodes where my chest will hurt, but nothing like before my diagnosis. So yes....chest pains are common among Lupus patients.
