I don't understand lupus. I feel really embarrassed to ask this, but how do you know when you are having a flare up? I feel so crummy most of the time, so I don't know how to tell?
most often when I'm having a flare up I experience more fatigue than usual, my muscles literally BURN. I also experience sudden dryness in my eyes, nose and throat, along with difficulty swallowing. That means my Sjorgens is active and most likely my lupus as well. I'll also sleep for longer periods during the day and at night I'll be wide awake. Everyone is different though you have to listen to your body and what it's telling you, and never push yourself further than you can go. If you've been going through a lot of stress odds are you will probably have a flare soon after. Hope this helps! Hugs
Lupus is a crazy disease. I have very strange symptoms. I know I have a flare when my left pointer finger starts to swell and my left eye is blood shot. Also, if my body is in a lot of pain all over the place. I've sun triggers a flare for me, being around sick people, being too cold, NOT GETTING ENOUGH SLEEP and many more things. It's basically an overall body thing for me. What I've learned is that if I get enough sleep, take my medication probably and eat right and another most important thing to do is stay STRESS FREE! Who can do that? That's the hardest for me. Lupus is quite a roller coaster of symptoms and emotions. It's hard but if you keep your sport up you can get through it, at least that's what I tell myself everyday! Stay well!
I feel crummy all over with lots of pain generally everywhere. Dizziness, alot of times nausea/vomiting, at times swelling, and sometimes fevers
i have been wondering this same thing. I have only been diagnosed for a year. From May to September, I actually did experience a phase of feeling better. since October, however, i have just cycled from feeling bad to feeling worse. My rheumatologist tells me my blood work looks ok as far as inflammatory markers. He is going to switch me from methotrexate to benlysta, pending insurance approval. My healing phase last may really did not begin until my school year ended. I am a teacher.
your crummy is worse then normal =(
