I haven't had eat infections since I was a kid. I've had 2 since onset of lupus in April. Seems strange .... Anyone else ?

I've been getting infections in my nail beds. It's probably just because our immune systems aren't great with the meds we're on.

Yes, our immune systems are compromised by the disease but also medications such as immunosuppressants. I'm prone to uti, yeast, ear and sinus infections. I had an ear infection for three months once.. its pretty rough. I feel for you. Sadly, it's par for the course. Depending on the kinds of infections you are getting, probiotics can be a helpful preventative. Especially if you've had to take antibiotics courses in the past.

well wishes,
d

I am having problems with getting UTI’s. The first one I had no symptoms and all of a sudden while at work my blood pressure dropped and had to be taken to the emergency room. My PB was 65/53. It was the UTI. Very scary. I’ve had one since then but was able to catch it earlier.

My ear always bothers me my rheumatologist says it is related to my other immune problem polychondritis which attacks cartilage. The relapsing polychondritis is often seen with lupus. She usually gives me a dose of prednisone. I don't like taking prednisone so I use OTC Allegra and Flonase which seems to help some!

Interesting you should mention ear infections. The year before I was diagnosed, I had two major ear infections, and hadn't had one before that since I was a child. When I caught a cold a month ago, it initially settled in my glands and ears, but eventually ended up as bronchitis. Not sure if this has something to do with lymph nodes in that area or our immune systems.
