I would rate my pain a 15 with extreme inflammation in my hand to where I can't even use it. My dr prescribed me a steroid pack and after one day pain has dropped to an 8! I actually was able to sleep last night. I know it's just a bandaid fix but I couldn't stand the pain, has anyone taken these steroid packs for inflammation and were there side effects?

I get them sometimes. The rheumatologist makes me go as long as I can I between them. She did give me one for Thanksgiving, so yay! I've gone a few years now without being able to bend many of my fingers. My pain is horrific. Started in my hands and feet and seems to be moving up my arms and legs now. As far as side effects, they suck. Maybe my first two packs I didn't have as many but now I get: ravenously hungry, my back breaks out really bad, I get really short tempered, I need to take a sleep aid at night or else I don't sleep. I'm sure there is more that's happening, but those are just the worst side effects. It's worth it though for me. I am still in pain while I take them and I still can't move things well, but at least I'm not crying because I hurt all the time and my husband doesn't have to carry me to bed for the first few days I'm on it. Good luck! Enjoy the break it gives you!

I've never heard of it. I take Pred, Plaq, Meth, and Folic Acid. I hope you get some relief. The heating pad and ice packs have become my friends.

Yes about the prednisone, and now I am on a low dose to manage the inflammation. If I get a bad flare, I got back on the high dose and then are weened back down to 4 milligrams a day. I take methylprednisone for it was the only one that I seemed to tolerate. The other types kept me up all night. I do hope you get full relief soon.

I have. Just the normal jitter feeling, night sweats are a little worse. I'm not on the pack this time. My rheumatologist put me on predisone daily to add to my plaquinel and methotrexate. To me having less pain is worth what side effects I have.
