I start in January, first treatment since this started. Anything i should expect, I'm a little hesitant
Sorry peeps, just re-read this post and some words were missing, so I've added them in CAPS~
First, @A MyLupusTeam Member, Plaquenil's generic name is hydroxychloroquine.
I've been taking the generic for almost a year; 200/mg 2x/day. I didn't experience any side effects. It helped with joint pain. I went off it for two months during the height of my yearly rash flare up (May - Oct), because my rheumy thought the combo of it and my hypersensitivity to sunlight aggravated my rash. This year's summer rash was the WORST.
PLAQUENIL CAN CAUSE PLAQUE PLATELET BUILD UP IN THE EYES, CAUSING BLURRED VISION. THAT'S WHY IT'S IMPORTANT TO SEE OPHTHALMOLOGIST, NOT OPTOMETRIST.
MACKENZIE BEALL, IS TODAY YOUR BIRTHDAY? THERE IS A LINE OF TEXT STATING SO....
Happy Birthday and Merry Christmas.
From my personal experience about lupus webgroups, learn what you can, ask questions, and then stave off them for awhile. Educate yourself, but please don't let lupus become your LIFE'S focus. Get off the computer, off your bum, and go out and enjoy life. Live life ahead of the disease.
So go and celebrate your life, your birthday, and the holidays! Go jingle some bells and deck some halls~~!
I've been on Plaquenil for about five years. It is a DMArd (disease modifying agent) and everyone who takes it needs to see an ophthalmologist annually.
My hair is already about half its original volume. I'm terrified! What happen if o notice more loss ? Will my doc think it's a God enough reason to change meds? I don't wanna be bald I'm so young
I use plaquenil. You have to be mindful of your hair. My hair in my profile pic is short but full with a thickness after starting the meds my hair started thinning. I began going to my stylist for her to work with my hair . My hair is thinner, but it is down my shoulder blades.
I noticed hairloss with Plaqunil.
