I'm going through my first major flare and I'm trying to make the decision to try and make myself get to work and make it through the day, or stay at home and rest. I have a lot of doctors appointments coming up next week where I will have to miss work but I'm feeling pretty crappy and really want to stay at home and rest tomorrow but could make myself get to work if I needed to. Does staying at home and resting really help you get over a flare? Or does it not make that huge of a difference?

Yes you need rest. Also look into disability unless you have a wonderful understanding employer.

Rest is one of the most important things we can do while dealing with the lupus. I had to resign my job after 15 yrs. I am on longterm disability from work plus Social Security Disability. You do what you have to do to take care of you first.

Rest us essential when having a flare. I'm in process of applying for disability, got denied first time but that is typical. Appeal going through now . If you do get an attorney that specifically works with disability cases. Prayers

@A MyLupusTeam Member..I was on short term disability with my job, then long term. I had to apply for disability in order to get my LT through work. Got denied first, then LT disability hired an attorney on my behalf. Denied second time. But this is normal from what I was told. The I had a court hearing and was approved. And they back dated to the beginning of my disability. That was just for a back problem. I have heard if you have lupus it is easier to get...but I don't know for sure. Good luck!

Rest when your body is telling you to. I am on FMLA now for my flares. ( Job protection) . Only way I get out of my flares is staying home and sleeping and pumping my body with water and good nutrition. Sometimes I need a short course of pred. Prayers girly.
hope your feeling better.
