I've randomly been getting sharp cramp like pain on right side of abdomen. A little under ribs. Sometimes light to moderate pain. Sometimes bad. I do tend to get nauseous when it starts hurting. It's not continuous and when I went to ER on a really pain day, they insisted everything looked good.
I also had my gall bladder removed during a lupus flare. I had pain under my right arm pit and was in the hospital receiving prednisone by I.V. I was taken to physio for the pain under my right arm pit before they realized it was my gall bladder. Mine was suppose to come out with no problems but when I awoke i had several additional incisions that I did not expect. The doctor explained that when he went in my gall bladder was like an onion. Layers and layers of infection. They needed to cut more incisions to insert tools to deal with the oozing and leaking of the gall bladder. The surgery went from routine to difficult requiring me to be hospitalized for several days longer than expected. I was told that the lupus had attacked my gall bladder. Since then it has attacked my liver and destroyed my thyroid. Everyday is a new adventure. Today and yesterday my feet and hands are aching and sore.
I had mine removed. Mine ended up being double in size and was hyperactive not the typical hypoactive with gall stones it was functioning at 98% normal ejection fraction of gall bladder is 35%-75% they overlooked my result since it wasn't "normal" hypoactive results, I had an EGD which came back normal later I just went back to the surgeon and said I need my gall bladder out when he went and looked at the results again he came back and apologized to me and explained. I never thought about why it was twice the size until I was diagnosed. They tested it it was benign.
Yes, I have that happen quite frequently, it's so bothersome and I have seen my doctor about it, but he acts like I'm a "mystery" patient, & doesn't seem to think it's lupus related, but I never had the problem before, & I have read many lupus suffers talking about it, so I'm certain it ties together.
Maybe you can ask your Primary Dr for a referral to another GI. I've had 2 decades of GI issues (stomach, intestines, pancreas) & when a Dr isn't listening/taking seriously/providing some treatment plan...they won't turn it around. Dr's have very 1 track minds. When they say you're fine, they stop there, in my experience .
My gallbladder turned to what they called a porcelain gallbladder. My body made it into a huge stone. Don't take no for an answer it could close your bile duct off and you will get very sick
