Thanks all! I will be seeing one, but wasn't sure exactly what they specialize in. From
What I gather, it's best to have internist that deals with all my issues? Hugs my friends!

An internist has far more medical training than a general practitioner. Most specialist like rheuys, also have specialized training in anatomy, physiology, microbiology. It's similar to comparing someone with a bachelors degree to another with a masters (imternist) or doctorate (specialist). Specialists have to pass medical board exams every 5 years, and those in internal medicine once every 10 years.

Lupus brings so many medial problems, so it is important to have an internalist, or a primary doctor.

GP is your regular Doctor who should always be aware of what all other Doctors are doing...
IMD is more for Lupus stuff, Internal stuff your GP really ain't qualified to understand but can be once your IMD teaches them via communication between both! This is Key! Always make your specialists send to your GP. Bottom line is its your GP that prescribes your meds. And controls what others prescribe you.
