Looking for someone to talk to, therapist or someone who works with lupus and deal with this. Going through a rough patch :( don't know what else to do anymore

That's exactly why I joined this group! I can't afford a therapist and some days I feel as if I may go mad. This site and the support helps a lot :-)

I see a psychologist who's wife has Lupus and it makes all the difference. I don't have to explain a lot as he knows it through his wife. I got lucky, didn't know he had wife with Lupus. Ask the mental health service advocates in your area. Anyone that works with chronic illness and pain have more insight. I wish you well and do whatever it takes to steady yourself. I find that an appointment a month helps me focus on the bigger picture, forces me to step outside of myself and most important has helped me to be KIND to myself. Does it make everything better? No but it sure does help me find ways to cope , ask for help and vent.

It's a search. I only had one therapist who "got it." He only counseled people with Lupus and MS and he was sooooooo good! I learned so much from him (about myself) and he helped me find my place in the world with Lupus. I would start with asking people "in the field" if they know of or use a counselor for their patients, i.e. pain clinics, your rheumatologist, chiropractors, naturopaths, wellness clinics, etc. Search, check references - look for "solution based" counselors. Counselors can be very helpful, or you can go sit for a hour a week and feel worse and more confused than when you went.
