Did any of you who have been diagnosed with lupus nephritis gain alot of weight that was mostly water retention before you found out you had a problem with your kidneys?

@A MyLupusTeam Member yes make sure you keep that appiontment . my doctor and I had to find the right dosage of a water pill for me. And get my blood pressure under control. Now the water weight is gone. Now I have to get rid of the little steroid weight I gained in the process of finding the right treatment. I hope the best for you. GOD allowed my kidney doctor to find a good combination for me and I'm going in remission. We know it's different for everyone. I hope they get yours in remission as well. Because that will elimante some stress and less stress means less flare ups. Good luck have a Blesssed Day.

Megan that sounds just about right exactly how it went with me. Been about 30+ yrs ago. But, do stay positive and don't ignore any new symptoms. Sending positive prayers to you. Your going to fine and be in remission soon. Take it from me I'm living proof. My blood pressure alone was like 170/110 back then, was in the hospital for weeks. Write me anytime. God Bless 💜😘

Spironolactone is very good for water weight and it spares your potassium and you can stay balanced

I was in the hospital for a flare once and I prior had CHF so I kept reminding the staff as they kept hanging those big sacs of IV fluids which encountered the fluids to back up where my kidneys weren't working properly and I started swelling really bad from my chest down to my thighs and nobody but my family noticed it and one physician that was seeing me on a regular and called a Nephrologist in and that's what they said I had and wanted me go on Dialysis and start some kind of medicine but I refused everything thing because had they listened from the beginning I wouldn't have put all that weight on instantly. I chose to stop the IV fluids and take fluid pills to remove excess water weight and that took care of the problem because I knew what had happened they just wasn't listening and keeping a close watch and prayerfully I didn't start Dialysis or that medicine because who knows where I'd be today! I thank God for Wisdom!!

@A MyLupusTeam Member Also your low thyroid condition could play into the weight gain. I gained a huge amount with just a low thyroid could not lose till added Armour. I hope your Lupus Nephritis gets better.
