If you are doing well on the Imuran and would like to keep using it, spironolactone is good to get rid of the edema without depleting you potassium

Hi @A MyLupusTeam Member,

I have no personal experience with imuran. The literature suggests that edema, in general, is often seen in we lupies. There have, however, been reports of pitting edema (oedema) associated with the use of imuran to treat lupus.

I'm on Imuran but haven't noticed any side effects. I do have swelling in my right foot, ankle and leg but not for sure it's because of the Imuran.

I've had terrible edema, but it was unrelated to Imuran. Do you take a serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor? When I stopped taking Cymbalta, my edema improved dramatically. Having said that, I'm super swollen today for no freaking reason. :/

I was on it for 2 yrs without problems but my RA doc checked for early signs monthly. In saying that just remember that all meds have risk just make sure to be proactive in what ever treatment you're on.
