Does any body else get coughing spells ? There are times I just cough my head off all night. No fever just a dry hacking cough.

I walked into the bank a few days ago, stepped up to the cashier and couldn't speak because of a coughing fit...her perfume or the guy in front of me cologne triggered an allergic response. Never had allergy trouble until the past ten years. Check pollen levels, new dtergents, deodorants, toothpaste or maybe a new reaction to something you never had a problem with. I take allergy relief medicine. Use salt water rinse and gargle. Avoid public places as much as possible and when I go out in public I try to go when the fewest people are around. I can't even go to church anymore because someone may be wearing something that trigger coughing and they can be so bad I can barely catch my breath. Good idea to check and see if your medicine may have something to do with it. Sometimes it's not the drug itself but fillers or binders or coatings they put with it. I avoid all nightshade plant foods since 2014 and it helps; lots of info on Internet .

I went through that last year. The doc put me on a med that caused it. Check the side effects of your meds. Just to be sure. Then call your doctor.

I was commenced on a anti-hypertensive medication for my high blood pressure. One of the documented side effects of this medication was a dry paroxysmal cough throughout the night, which is what i experienced. I reported this to the Doctor after the one month trial, and she changed the med to another anti-hypertensive drug, and waaaalla, no my cough throughout the night, no me headache and light headedness, and finally my blood pressure is stable 2 months later.

Dry mouth and dehydrated, exspecially at night cause I get that almost every night. Never talked to my Dr. about cause figured it out on my own. I drink enough water, milk and juice to get through the day and dinner have my Coke. About 8 or 9 I stop drinking liquids, chew gum or suck on mints and that does help exspecially before bedtime cause that was the worst for me. Then I found Mentos chewing gum and that helps the sooth the coughing from the dryness in your mouth, dehydrated. With all the meds I'm on didn't want to take a chance taking something I didn't need cause I knew I wasn't sick, if that makes any sense. But, like I said Mentos chewing gum, minty kind cause those are the best and even just mints. Get Altoids in Wintergreen, so good, Ice Breakers Cool Blast and they now have Mentos mints, really good. Have to admit though, I did tell my Dr about the coughing at night and dry mouth related, but I told her what I was doing and she said if it works keep up the good work, but make sure you keep liquids down to. Who wouldn't know that, but Dr's always have to say that exspecially when you over stepped him or her. Felt good, she was proud of me cause I know her she would have put me on a new med and I don't want that. Well, with my new Lupus Dr gonna have to be put on a new med anyway, didn't see that coming.
