What other meds can I take?
I need options please. I'd like to be prepared for my rheumy appointment. Mind you I've tried Imuran and it did NOT go good with my body. My face is still red and I'm still feeling lots of fatigue it's so draining !! I need to see what other meds I can take to help me function !!
Thanks !!
I noticed that you are on both Plaquenil and Imuran at the same time. From what I understand (based on discussion with various immunologists/rheumatologists over time) that is unusual. Each of those drugs are what I have been told are 'disease altering drugs' which means that, if they work, they change the course of your disease. While it was never spelt out, I imagine they mean that you will be put into remission. Other medications I have taken over the years for the same purpose have been Salazapyrin (sulfasalazine) and Methotrexate. Do you have a lot of pain? If so you need to also see a pain specialist. I am on quite a bit of pain medication also - pain makes you very tired as well. So things like Lyrica and Tramadol and Panadol. The other thing you might choose to look into is taking some sort of anti-depressant. It is very hard to live in constant pain and have chronic disease and NOT be depressed! So Efexor or whatever (Efexor, I have been told, amplifies the effect of the pain meds so that is why I was originally put on it but boy oh boy, it makes a huge difference to being able to deal with my day to day issues.)
Hope that helps a bit.
Also, try to wean yourself off of sugar. You will be surprised at the damage sugar does to us
I take Imuran n Prednisone prn! Everyday I'm Honestly Fatiqed all day Constantly! Even when I took Plaqenil, the same thing always tiredn in Pain! I guess we just have to make the best of what were feeling n going thru! However I can relate that it does get tirersum! It's one thing to have a Sickness but can we at least be Comfortable n Relaxed!!πππ Can our bodies just get along lol!
I am currently trying the Alkaline diet. I only drink Alkaline water and my food diet is plant based. I just started a few months ago and I researched which fruits and veggies are best for anti-inflammatory symptoms. Leafy greens are the best however I am a heart patient on blood thinners which vegetables high in Vitamin K counteract my meds. My hematologist has adjusted my meds so I can have these vegetables in my diet. I'm also trying different roots like tumeric which also has tons of nutrients we need. I haven't been able to to stop any meds yet. I have been dealing with a flare up for about a month now but I'm hoping and praying small changes in my diet will help my body.
