@A MyLupusTeam Member I've had the same problems. Hair loss and itchy rash in my hair at the back of my head near my neck. My GP gave me a cortisone cream for the itchy rash and it certainly helped the itching. My acupuncturist who also does Chinese Medicine had me eating seaweed (I ate the Japanese nori sheets and a snack we have here that is made from the same - the sheets they make sushi with). He told me any type of seaweed has the minerals needed. I am not sure it is growing back yet - too soon to tell but it certainly did stop my hair falling out. After a couple of weeks I noticed there was less and less coming out. My hair is still a lot thinner than it was (I have also been recently been rediagnosed with hyper thyroid which also gives you hair loss so it was a double whammy with the lupus). Cheers. Jennifer

From this Flare I'm in and the various medications I've been on, I've lost a lot of hair. It was VERY thick, but now it is thin. I take Biotin everyday to make what's still there stronger. My Rheumy told me that when he tapers me off of the Prednisone it will grow back in. It is discouraging I know. I don't want to use those chemical hair growth products.
I don't know what to do for the itching though. I think that someone suggested Tea Tree Oil??? My skin is very sensitive to soaps and shampoo's, so when I'm putting on the Cream Rinse, I put it on mostly on just the ends of my hair so the rinse that's left on doesn't itch my head worse. Best wishes. I hope you find a solution @A MyLupusTeam Member
