I know many of us are unable to work. I was denied SSDI and I'm appealing, I do have a lawyer and just received a letter from the state with two doctor appointments scheduled. Are they trying to get info to deny me or is this a step towards approval?
When they make appointments for you that usually means they don't have enough info from your doctors to make a decision. I had to see one of their psychiatrists the first time I applied. He said I was seriously depressed, anxious and had had PTSD and I was denied. Like I said earlier, my attorney had over 1500 pages of reports from my medical doctors alone and my pain management doctor weighed the most with the judge. And it was the one time I was eternally grateful for being in a bad flare on the day of my hearing as the judge was able to see clearly how the disease affects me. Praying for you. The wait is long and difficult but remember Gods timing is always perfect. Also as @A MyLupusTeam Member said, if you are still working 40 hour weeks or even 20 hours or volunteering for several hours or able to thoroughly clean your house and do cooking, take care of your pets, driving everywhere etc. you are reducing your chances of approval.
Be careful sometimes those doctors are all from Ssi and they all work together.Ask for an appeal in front of the judge and ask your The rheumatologist for letter for what he treating you for and when you go in front of the judge you give it to them.that how I did and got approved.
Yes I am with the others on the lawyer should handle all this for you.
I went thru all the same stuff. It's all very much standard procedure. Your attorney should give you directions. Stay positive!
The qualifying for Social Security Disability Income is very demanding. If you have an attorney this is good. My attorney would not take my case unless he thought there was a very good chance I would qualify. At first I was angry, I thought he should fight for me but his time and effort would have no compensation if he could not win. Your attorney receives percentage of your settlement. Keep all documentation even a handwritten note in a pocket calendar. Take someone with you to the dr. Apts. There are conditions that must be met set by SS, for me being disabled due to a mental illness it was repeated hospitalization within a certain time frame despite my consistent compliance with medication and counseling. It took two years for me to get qualified and another 6 months to get any money. In the process, I became destitute to the point of almost being homeless. But it was worth it. My income is poverty level but with great budgeting and few desires, I have enough. I do not utilize services that I do not need. With all this now that I have Lupus, it means I can take care of myself and hopefully reduce the progress of this disorder in disabling pain and destruction to organs.
