yeah CarolynGuy, definitely search for anew one. I had one like that . she diagnosed me with RA . She was awful. she wouldn't listen and due to her ignorance I suffered for 2 more years. I researched rheumys in my area on healthgrades.com and the docs are all rated and all their credentials are listed and all that. It shows how long they have been practicing their specialties and where they went to college and all that.. sometimes it will also list patient reviews.. so I ended up finding one of the best docs ever on that site. He saw me and by the 2nd visit he put me on plaquenil and by the 3rd visit he diagnosed SLE. I truly believe he saved my life. The plaquenil was amazing at first but now it seems to be not helping quite as well. Anyway though, check out healthgrades.com. God bless you! Much love and many prayers!
I have lupus nephritis so when my kidneys get irritated, it causes my feet and legs to swell, resulting in constant pins and needles feeling when I walk.
Hi CarolynGuy, I have Lupus, rheumatoid arth, fibro, rey syndrome, probably a few more things. I take Plaquenil for circulation, and Elavil for the Lupus. I do have pain meds in case the pain gets to be unbearable...my hands and feet turn purple and get numb, sometimes I soak them in warm water to stop the tingling, but the neuroton seems to work for this also.....
It is most definitely a symptom associated with lupus.. Irt sows that there could be neurological involvement. It sounds like your rheumy may not be the best one for you. He/ she is giving you bad info. Look for other symptoms of neurological involvement like extreme dizziness, bad headaches, vertigo, weakness, memory lapses.. Also, do you have raynauds?
Hi Courtney. I agree I need another rhematologist. Any symptoms I tell her I'm having she always say it's not associated with lupus. I have vertigo and headaches. Thanks for responding.
