How does your significant other cope with your Lupus?
Wow it's really hard for my husband and boys but they are
Always here that's why I try to give them sometime to themselves a lot! I know it get hard for them to see me so sick. I always try to ask them how are the coping with it
When. I was first diagnosed (Jan 1990), I was married at the time and my ex-wife had a hard time coming to grips with my illness. She even go so far as to accuse me of faking it to get attention. Needless to say, we split up 30 years ago. Since then, I have been on a couple of dates but I have noticed that women seemed to be afraid of my illness, especially since I started dialysis ( 18 years ago). I do dialysis at home and I think that it is too much for them to deal with and they start looking for ways to get out of the relationship. One woman kept saying that her family is not going to like that she’s in this relationship because my illness, my lifespan could be reduced, leaving her with a lot of emotional pain. She likened it to being married to a cop. It’s a high risk occupation and every time he goes to work, there’s always a big chance he may not come home. Another woman shuddered at the thought of helping me with dialysis and just made excuses on why she wanted out. I stopped trying because it just not worth the risk of being heartbroken. Well, that’s my situation, maybe yours would fair better
My husband left me to
He runs away and is not there for me emotionally. Some people can't handle it.
