Who has successfully gotten off of Prednisone? And if so, what side effects did you have and how long more or less did it take you ?
I tapered off at the beginning of June per my dr, went from 5mg a day down to 2.5mg for a week then I was done! I don't feel it was exceptionally awful looking back, things just became "okay". I went back on 10 mg right before our trip due to the pain in my neck and arm, now that I am home, I am off, went cold turkey! I think the bigger the dose, the longer it takes to taper and thusly may have more noticeable side effects! Wishing you luck!β
As you mentioned they tapered me off and it took 2 years and the only evidence for me is under my throat it's still a bit swollen but all in all I'm good and happy to be off..i bloomed up looking like a poo bear and was constantly asking my rheumatologist "Can I now" with the answer not yet.. but when that last pill was popped I said "THANK YOU GOD".. You will be ok..
Positive thots all the way πͺ
Ive been off the prednisone for a year now. Side effects i got was mainly the weight gain but also felt more hungry n cudnt sleep. My weight, once i came off the prednisone just fell off - maybe abit too fast so i didnt have to do any exercise. It did leave me more lethargic than before n maintaining the iron was a constant struggle n still is. Still cant get a decent sleep even though im knackered.
Had a bone density scan done twice and i found my teeth softened. Now on a stronger floride toothpaste.
All in all it will tk time for these side effects to completely go away. Ive been fortunate with the weight but for the rest, its abt eating better esp.if u dont have the energy to exercise πͺπͺ
