Members responding to the question about taking prednisone at night overwhelmingly agreed that morning is the best time, noting it can cause insomnia and restlessness when taken later in the day. Several members shared that taking it with food like oatmeal, yogurt, or toast helps protect the stomach, and one member explained that morning dosing aligns with the body's natural cortisol peak around 8 a.m., which helps protect the adrenal glands. A recurring theme was the importance of consulting your doctor about timing and dosage, as effects can vary from person to person.

Taking prednisone will keep you wired and more energy than you need. Insomnia is a a problem and weight gain be careful what you take. Cheers

When i was with kaiser insurance my Doctor had me take 4 mg at breakfast & 4 mg at bedtime, i had a hard time sleeping i would ask my doctor because most people said it was the prednisone keeping me awake, but she said no thats how im suppose to take it, & she wouldnt change when i was on higher doses she always had me take the higher dose of prednisone at bedtime i couldnt ever figure her out as to why when i switched insurance a couple years ago my new Drs. Were number one upset thar ive been on prednisone for almost 20 years so they tried tapering me off, where kaiser said i would never go below 8 or 10 mg. After i started taking the prednisone twice aday thats when i was hit with all the side affects & the weight gain. But now that im with providence im on a maintanence dose of 5mg aday , i was lower but my B/P dropped to low, but my adrenal glands we cant get to kick in on there own.. i like to go lower but dont know how to do that ? But once i got off from taking prednisone at night i sleep much better. For the most atleast until recently .
I think its best to take in the morning, atleast for me it was .
