I have a question about lab results. I just had blood work and my ANA was negative but my ds dna was positive, isn't ds dna a type of Ana? And if it is how could you be Ana negative but ds dna positive?

It wasn't high, positive but not by much maybe that's the reason. I was feeling fine at the time, a couple of weeks before I was horrible. From everything I've read it just seemed like ANA should be positive for the Ds-DNA to be positive it seemed odd.

They 're ran the tests for me and my ANA was pisirive5as well. It is possible to have a neg ANA but yet a positive anti ds DNA, but very rare.

A positive Ds-DNA points to Lupus more so. Normally, if you have a positive Ds-DNA, you should have a positive ANA which indicates a possible form of Auto immune, It is rare to have a negative ANA and a Positive Ds-DNA, but it can happen. Was your DsDNA number a high one?

Thank you for your response. I'm new to all of this so I might not be understanding it correctly, it just doesn't make sense to me. I go to the Dr next week, but I wanted to see if anyone knew.
