pb, I was sent to have my numbness checked out. I could feel it every time the electrodes were changed. I never heard anything from that clinic. I'm guessing it must all be in my head... and, I can't seem to remember to ask my dr if SHE got any info from them. -this may be a good time to go right now and put that on my drs list. (?!!)

They prescribed gabapentin for my neuropathy and my legs and feet swelled so bad I could hardly bend my knees. The chemo medicine I am taking can cause neuropathy and it sure did. The first treatment I walked the floor. They prescribed lyrica and it has helped calm it down some but the original dose caused me to sleep all the time so they cut it in half. I took 12 weeks of therapy with laser and it really didn't seem to help. All it did was cost a large amount.

Well, I have it in my feet and legs, but notice it mostly in the legs. The only relief I've found is w/ gabbapentin. Good luck

I have neuropathy in my feet that is very unpredictable. I walked all over NY on vacation in Nov with no problem. Now, a few months later, I can barely walk my dog a few blocks without my feet burning and aching. To relieve the burning, I sit with my feet up and definitely have to take my socks off. Seems like socks sometimes aggravate my neuropathy. I don’t think compression socks would help me.

I am taking gabapentin 300mg. I started out taking the max dose of 2400mg. It finally dawned on me that the balance problem and occasional trouble with my speach were effects of the med. I quit cold-turkey and that night--major pain and itching so bad couldn't get much sleep. I really only had problems with the neuropathy when I went to bed and my mind wasn't busy enough to be distracted from it. So, the next day was so-so. That night was a mirror of the night before. I got up and took two of the capsules, and slept fine. Now I only take those two caps before bedtime and sleep fine. The pain isn't 100% gone then but way way better. I wish you much luck in your search for relief.
I had forgotten about lotion. The first thing I used when this started was Gold Bond lotion (green bottle) with dimethicone. It helped but had to reapply to continue getting the benefit.
Mine also started with it in my feet being numb in places on my feet. When I told my dr about it she used a thin wire to test them for numbness. I could feel it--so not numb on skin I guess. She sent me to a nerve clinic and they found nothing either. But I still have the numbness. They feel like they would if I had dipped them in melted wax only on the soles and let it cool, then 'curled' them inward. That cooled wax stiffness of the skin is how they feel.
From what I've read online about curing neuropathy is that you have to cure the thing that caused it then you can tackle the nerve problem. How do you do that is the question.
