I've used an ice pack on my head to reduce inflammation. I quit using shampoos that are harsh. My dermatologist suggested biotin for hair growth.

Do you know if it is from your actual head due to sores, rash, your hair is falling out, etc. or is it from inflammation or nerve issues on your head? I have had both.

I was just doing some reading about Lupus (I’m new to this all and still learning about the disease. It discussed hair loss as a side effect of lupus, which I had previously heard, however, they went on to explain the reason for the hair loss: inflammation of the scalp

Now I’m thinking that’s what this insane itching is from! And now I’m worried about thinning hair. I suspected I’d been losing hair over time. It’s not a ‘noticeable’ problem but an observation I’ve made

Aside from meds prescribed for lupus does anyone have suggestions on how to stop scalp inflammation to reduce the chance of hair loss? So antihistamines maybe help?

Yes, my skin gets real hot and then I itch all over including my hair. I wonder if it is something I am eating.
