I need some advise. I was diagnosed with Lupus two years ago. Not once has my disease stopped me in my tracks until a few days ago when I started getting Migraines. Three days in a row I got one. I was devastated to find out the Migraines and Lupus go hand in hand. I suffered as kid with Migraines and thought that I had grown out of them. Everyday is a new experience with Lupus to say the least. I guess at this point I would like support, advise, etc. I have a call into my specialist as well as… read more
Sweetie if your Ana doesn't show up that doesn't mean a darn thing. It just means your level isn't high enough to show up. And/Or it could be the type test they run. Or if you had been given steroids with in a certain time frame of your labs. So all in all a negative test does not mean you don't have Lupus.
Ive suffered from migraine s since i was 10 yrs old. But they have increased a great deal with my lupus. I take topamax 2x a day to help control them, furacet, at there on set and Imetrex when full blown. Just had my 3rd set of injection of botox haven't seen a big difference up to this point.
I’ve been treated for debilitating migraines since childhood. I feel for anyone that gets them as they can be some of the worst pain known to man I think.
I have been seeing a pain management doctor for mine for many years now. For that and fibro...which was really Lupus. Or perhaps both. Anyway...
They have migraine specific drugs which you may or may not be able to take depending on what you’re on for your lupus. The migraine meds (triptans) scare me because they can cause other health problems like stroke...which I worry about being susceptible to. I also get them too frequently to use the triptans. I also haven’t found them to effective and have to use pain medication anyway. They do really work for some people though.
They always say it’s best to contact your dr with a change in headaches so do follow up!
And just an FYI....after finding I’m having kidney inflammation and protein leakage my doctor advised me to stop taking any NSIDs like Ibuprofen which can cause kidney issues
Thanks all!! As a matter of fact I have been on Prednisone so that makes a tonne of sense. I will have another set of blood tests done in a couple of weeks after I have finished the steroids. I also see my specialist in April. This disease is crazy!!! I call it the pain in the ass disease.
True dont mean its gone but when they down... I have way more good days then I do bad.
